Lots of learning. Black paper, a base of conte crayon and then detail with Daler Rowney white, black and sepia pencils. The cat's eye is a combination of blue conte crayon and white pencil.
The photo actually picks up more of the pigment than you can see under electric light. For once, I think it looks pretty good!
Oh, my goodness, this is absolutely superb. I'm speechless. This is going to be a major fave of mine for a long time - it's inspired. Beautifully done.

As ever your artistic genius astounds me. I'm not a cat fan, but I love this one. And Severus- this is the closest to what's in my mind when I read. There is such depth, esp nose, cheekbones; not sure if this is the right word- but this is so realistic, I feel I could touch him.
