My HP Art Project Assignment.

Half Blood Prince
Chapter 12: Silver and Opals

In which Katie Bell is cursed by an opal necklace on the road between Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. She hangs in the air, screaming at some unknown horror.

Watercolour and a little bit of pen and ink to finish. Now I just have to figure out how the hell to resize it to 9.5 x 6.5 inches and see what it prints like at 150dpi

I find this so disturbing. Really, really disturbing. Considering that's probably what you were going for... Good job! Nice work. But still... disturbing. It reminds me of some horror film, I can't put my finger on it, or maybe it just has that "feel."

*shivers*

Now, how about some Snape, and making me shiver in a completely different way? ;)

That is exactly what I was going for. Horror!

I think that there would be a whole bunch of kids for whom being packed off to boarding school would be horrible and scary - and the things that happened at Hogwarts would only emphasise that. So this is for all the kids who get homesick ;-)

Oh WOW! I love what you've done with the Forbidden Forest and how incredibly brooding and foreboding you've made Hogwarts. Katie was already horrifying. Just awesome!

The castle looks amazing. You did an excellent job with the changes and with the piece overall. My husband came running over to look when it came up on the screen--it's impossible NOT to look at. Very arresting, and very disturbing. Awesome.

Thank you. I'm very pleased you think the changes have improved things. I've just had both images up on the screen next to each other and I'm much happier now!

Disturbing = Good in this case. It wasn't the most fluffy of chapters to be assigned and I'm really relieved I came up with something scary!

Thank you! Phew! It's a bit scary trying to add stuff to a watercolour because if it goes wrong, it's fucked! Thank god I bought some masking fluid the other day so I could cover bits up to protect them while I did stuff.
